We were given free rein to totally reimagine this large, split-level apartment. We intervened in the layout to improve the flow and use of space. From small details, such as repositioning the fireplace, to major changes, such as creating a central island in the kitchen to create a communal space, the house was completely transformed. The upper floor was designed to function almost independently — a place to unwind and switch off, with an internal living room, kitchenette and bathroom, as well as a private veranda with a small pool. Bold splashes of primary colour in different materials such as metal, lacquer, and corian inject a joyous sense of fun into this home, reflecting the owner’s personality.
